Saturday Evening

We all got a good night's rest last night and today we had a great meeting with the people that attended the CR training in February. It was so good to see everyone and hear how CR is changing lives. Several churches are in the process of starting or have plans to start CR in the near future. Mike and Kelly gave their testimony and it really made an impact on those attending. It is exciting to see God at work. Tomorrow we attend a church that has been working with it's leadership team since February and is launching it church wide this next week. Hopefully our visit will encourage people to get involved.

Kenya is having a severe drought causing all kinds of problems. Cattle (many people's livelihoods) are dying, crops are failing and there are rolling blackouts across the country because they cannot generate enough electricity to keep up with the need. That is why we did not have hot water, the hotel had to use generators and they could not make enough electricity to heat the water. Praise God that we all had hot showers today. I'n sitting in my room and typing this by flashlight as the electricity just went out for the night. That is why we bring flashlights :-).

Please pray for another good night's rest tonight. That we are God's vessels (Muppets) tomorrow as we attend church at CCI Thika and speak at both of their church services and meet with their senior pastor. Pray for the church as they launch CR to the congregation. That we represent God in all of our interactions throughout the day.

  1. So glad you made safely (biz class - thanks, Lord!), had some good rest, got at least one hot shower so far, and that a flashlight was on your packin' list. Asante Sana, Bwana! I'm looking at the pics of all our Nairobi friends (missing them) - so glad you were able to reconnect with many of them. I'm excited to hear how they are doing and what God is doing in their lives. Hope you all enjoy worshipping tomorrow at church. I do believe Kenyan singing/worship is my favorite. I'll be praying (tonight for me) for the church members to have open hearts and minds tomorrow morning as you also are God's ambassadors. (Wow, what a leap of faith for this dear pastor.) As it sort of says in John 15:5 - Yes, I'm the Muppeteer and you are the muppets...Apart from me you can nothin'. Yep, it's as simple as that. -- A special hi to David. Take care, thinking of you all, Jo

  2. Hopefully, more and more Kenyans are turning to the Lord to see them through the drought.

Don't worry, your hearts will be as open as your faith is great. Enjoy.

  4. Are you havin' fun yet? (just had to ask) It is so good to hear about your travel and get caught up on all of the trip to date. Know that you are all being prayed for each day and that God knows what He is doing! We serve such an awesome and loving God who continues to use "broken vessels" to carry His word. Looking forward to hearing about the trip to Ebeneezer and how all the youth are doing. Muppets - what a great description of how the Holy Spirit will use you all today (your time) - Hope you all rested well and that your strength is sustained each day to carry the hope to a country that is so much in need! God bless you in all you do this day, John Brennan
