In Kigali

We arrived last night in Kigali safely with our luggage. It was great to be met at the airport by Jean Pierre and Maurice. We got to practice being flexible from the start. The hotel we were booked at didn't have rooms so we checked in to the Diplomat Hotel. It has a nice view overlooking downtown Kigali. We are enjoying a relaxing breakfast in the outdoor dining room. Oh yeah, and our "plans" for the next couple of days are a bit different than we expected. "I will cheerfully adjust, change or drop my planned program to meet the local needs and fit into the local context." We know God's plans are so much better than ours and look forward to seeing what He has in store.

  1. Glad you made it, travelers, and "with all luggage" is even better. I like that: "oh yeah, our plans changed for the next few days".

I am excited about whereever God has you planned to visit church tomorrow. You GET to worship (sing and dance too) with a great crowd of believers, and God will refresh you in spirit. I'll be praying for a wee bit of rest (one can pray) on this day so that your bodies can continue to adjust to the time warp you just had.

May Jesus be all you need, as the ameneties may not be all you want, and may He give you a sense of humor to bind you together in love. I am firmly praying that THIS is what others see, your love: love for each other, love for those you meet, love for God.

I also want to thank each one of you for being there right now. I realize that it IS a sacrifice on many different levels, so know that you have foundational support in those that love you and are praying God's very best for you right now.

  2. Who is in control? Who makes the best plans? Who is the only trusted "plan-maker"? Oh yeah... God!

Isn't it just like God to test you from the start and get your attention just when you need Him to! :-)

Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

Now that God has your attention, I can't wait to hear how He will use you all during this annointed time.

Heavenly Father, thank you for all that has taken place so far and for all You have planned for this team. Father You have hand-picked this team and have delivered them to Rwanda for "such a time as this" and in a place where they will follow whatever it is that You put in their path.

Father, You have chosen this time and modified the "plans" to provide for this team an "eye-opening" experience and a "heart-felt" understanding of their mission.

Father protect Your servants on this trip and provide for them, keep them safe and healthy, with rest, and nourishment for the journey.

Father I ask for blessing for the families that are home, praying for Jana, Jana and Dave as they pursue Your purposes. I pray all these things in Your Son'a Name, the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.
