Friday night in Mombasa

Yesterday our flight to Mombasa went smoothly, we had a good view of snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro on the way. We just relaxed in the afternoon and enjoyed a nice long walk on the beach of the Indian Ocean.

Today we met with a group of pastors that have attended previous CR trainings here in the Coast Provence. They believe in CR. It was a very informal all day meeting of discussing various challenges that they face in starting CR. We brainstormed different ways of addressing those challenges and the pastors decided to begin monthly meetings to help encourage one another go forward. They are discussing ways of having 1 CR ministry for several small churches. It was great to see so many familiar faces. Michael is relieved that I didn't make him walk back to our hotel due to social blunders. :-) He enjoyed meeting the pastors and learning more about the Kenyan culture.

Tomorrow we are meeting with 2 CR groups. Stanley and Gladys Wainaina will take us to both meetings, it will be nice to spend the day with them. Pray that we continue to be the Muppets and speak God's words in both of these meetings.

  1. Newest one for you - Today, God Is First (T.G.I.F.)

Well it sounds like all is going well and know that we are praying "The Armor" everyday and lifting you both up in prayer for this journey. God continues to shine His face on you as you vigorously follow His directions and as you continue to provide for so many others.

We are praying that your obedience continues as you "spread The Word" to so may who need it so desparately. We are praying for your safety and for the protection of your health during this trip as well as the health of those who you will be in contact with on this trip.

We are also praying already for those who will be traveling to the training and for their hearts and minds to be open to the healing message that Celebrate Recovery provides.

We are also praying for Morris Opati as he prepares for his presentations - how exciting this must be for you Jana as you "get to" see the fruits of your labor manifest itself in Morris.

Rest well, stay safe, be diligent and trust God!

Numbers 6:24-26 - "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and giev you peace."

  3. John is just the best at comments. I'm praying for you, too, for protection, for open hearts and minds for those you meet, and for a wonderful 3 week date. I can just imagine the walk on the beach - take time to enjoy the beauty and the romance. Then get back to work. Have a fruitful day of encouragement and encouraging with Stanley and Gladys. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

I know you rely on God to work out all the details and to use you as He desires, at least when you aren't spinning too many plates. Ask for His divine intervention and direction in all you do.

John 15:16 ~You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

Enjoy the growing fruit and the ongoing abundant harvest! Keep doing what you're doing!

  4. Glad to hear the pastors are coming up with ways to make it work in their community. Especially glad to hear that you were able to spend time with Stanley & Gladys

I was especially praying on Friday, during your lunch (2:30am our time). Look forward to hearing more of how CR is changing their lives!

Sounds like you had some good twosome time too - Yeah!

  5. Tell Michael I TOTALLY understand what he is going through. And I hope he is comforted by the fact that none of us are perfect (especially me) and that Grace is available.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter in the end, because he's there from the other side of the world to do what he can for them...and they know.

Thank God for you Michael, for sacrificing your time and your income to support your wife and the people of Kenya. You are being blessed and you will continue to be. Jana L
